Center for Ministry Preparation

Why CMP? The Center for Ministry Preparation (CMP) wants to fan into flame the calling of God in the lives of our students. CMP was created to help launch those called into ministry by providing a deeply Pentecostal educational emphasis coupled with practical ministry training. Because ministry training should not cause financial ruin, CMP makes every attempt to keep costs low. A Congressional Analysis of College Costs and Implications for America’s Higher published on September 4, 2003 stated, “America’s higher education system is in crisis due to exploding college costs. Tuition increases are outpacing the rate of inflation, increases in family income, and even increases in state and federal financial aid, which have grown tremendously in recent years. These cost increases are pricing students and families out of the college market, and forcing prospective students to “trade down” in their postsecondary educational choices because options that may have been affordable years ago have now been priced out of reach.” With the average cost of a four year degree at a Christian College totaling $70,9121, CMP provides a cost effective alternative. The total charges for a two year CMP degree is $8,000. That is a total savings of over $27,000 for two years. In addition, Thomas Brady in Missions Mover states “The denominational certification and seminary education that has dominated the church for over five centuries is missing the mark largely because denominations and seminaries are aiming at the wrong thing.” CMP agrees with the thesis of the Leadership Baton, which states: “We believe that separating the preparation of church leaders from the local church ministry and mission, combined with the pressures of academic respectability and professionalism, has damaged Christ’s Church.” 12006 College Guide issued by the Commission on Christian Higher Education |
