Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) CMP encourages students who wish to expand their biblical knowledge and maturity to enroll in classes for personal enrichment so they may better serve their local churches or ministries. SizeWhat is the size of CMP? The total student enrollment at CMP is approximately 25. This provides a close-knit community where you study in small classes and receive personal attention. DistinctionWhat makes CMP different from other Bible colleges? You must speak with students and faculty to fully appreciate CMP’s distinctives. Among the more prominent features students most often cite:
Students particularly appreciate the quality of teaching, the small classes, and the close relationships they develop with faculty at CMP. CMP does not require SAT or other standardized test scores as part of the admissions process. AdmissionsMy high school does not rank students. Will this hurt my candidacy? No. High schools often provide some indication of GPA distributions or may report student ranks even when they do not report precise ranks for students. To the extent that we are left with little or no sense of how well your performance compares to that of your classmates, however, we may be forced to give more weight to the other academic indicators in your application. Do you accept Advanced Placement (AP) credit or International Baccalaureate (IB) credit? No. Because CMP is about ministry training and preparation, AP and IB classes do not fit into the academic program offered at CMP. Do you accept Home –Schooled students? Yes. Applicants must produce diploma and transcript that verifies graduation by the state department of education, local school district or accrediting association. Students who cannot produce this must submit GED. ComputersWill a personal computer be required? Although not required, most students have benefit from having a personal computer. Nevertheless, do not consider it a mandatory requirement. How do students use their laptops in class? Students use their laptops to access software, take notes, and complete assignments. Laptops are not allowed when taking exams. Academic ProgramHow large are the classes? Small. Most classes have less than 10 students enrolled. Are faculty accessible to students? We hope that this is one of your questions, because the attention that students enjoy at CMP is undoubtedly one of the greatest strengths of the school. The student-to-teacher ratio is approximately 10-to-1, and all faculty of CMP, including the Director, teach classes. Faculty maintain office hours and can be contacted by phone, voice mail, and electronic mail. Do you offer internships? Yes, all students enrolled in CMP are expected and required to be enrolled in an internship with a local church during their enrollment in the programs. CMP will assist students in securing a site, however the best location is the church you are attending. Students are NOT required to do an internship at a Cedar Park Church, even though Cedar Park welcomes students as interns. Student LifeIs housing provided by the school or does the student have to find his/her own housing? Are the residence halls? Because the Center for Ministry Preparation is a church based ministry training center, we do not have dormitory or housing available on campus. Nevertheless, we are in immediate proximity to a multi-complex housing center and out of the area students can secure housing directly across the street from the Center. Anyone interested in securing housing, please feel free to contact the CMP office for information on the local housing options. Can I bring a car to CMP? Yes. The only requirement is that the vehicle be properly registered and insured. Do many students go home during the weekends? Because we are a ministry training center, most student are involved in a local church. Should students need to go home, Friday and Saturday are usually open and free days. All students are expected to attend church on Sundays. Is your campus "liberal" or "conservative"? Whether the question refers to personal life styles or religious backgrounds, the answer is that although CMP’s student body is very diverse and encompasses a broad range of beliefs, views, and affiliations, as ministers in training, the school encourages a conservative lifestyle. |
